A New Ski Paradise in Cervinia, Italy

By: Robert Melkonyan

Gracefully embracing the slopes of Monte Cervino (Italy's name for the great Matterhorn), Cervinia has inexorably made use of its greatest feature: a towering altitude. Imagine a vertical drop of 7,700 feet. This is why it is the favorite winter destination for climbers, snowboarders, and skiers. The Cervinia appeals to all adventurous spirits who are never daunted by neither height nor snow. Then, as the fame of Cervinia grew, it is now being called the newest ski paradise in Italy.

Amazing snow conditions in Cervinia - for all levels of skiers

As a ski paradise, the Cervinia will please many ski enthusiasts, from the beginner to the intermediate skiers. Beginners will appreciate the wide-ranging and far-reaching gentle ski runs. These long easy runs always have outstanding snow. The abundance and consistency of snow are due to the town's impressive altitude. With more than enough snow, every beginning ski enthusiast will have numerous opportunities to practice their angulations and stem techniques. Of course, there might be several crash landings, but the bunny slopes, especially within the area of Plan Maison, are easily conquered.

The intermediate skiers will be pleased by Cervinia's longest run, which is more than 13 miles. This ski run begins at the Plateau Rosa and ends towards the Val Tournenche, a nearby village. The vertical drop of this particular long ski run is roughly 5,000 feet. The top elevation of Cervinia itself is slightly higher than 11,400 feet and the mountain terrain has several challenging steep slopes. With a link to Zermatt, which also begins at Plateau Rosa, the intermediate skiers will also have a chance to try the more riotous slopes of the Swiss side.

The Cervinia ski resort may not be very appealing for expert skiers simply because there are no serious black runs. But if they are interested in crossing that link to Zermatt and see panoramic vistas on the side, the expert skiers will enjoy this easy access to Swiss ski slopes. They only need to procure special lift tickets and need not pay the expensive Swiss fees.

Luxurious facilities for all skiers

A place could not be truly called a ski paradise without the pistes and the facilities that will cater to the needs of all adventurers. The Cervinia has a total of 27 lifts that range from trams, gondolas, chairs, and surface lifts. This extensive lift system can be accessed from Val Tournenche. This Cervinia ski resort also has 42 pistes, several off-slope amenities, and endless snowy landscapes. This means that other winter activities, especially snowboarding, can be thoroughly enjoyed.

Convenient location to major transportation hubs

Cervinia can be easily accessed by air, by rail, and by car. The closest airport is Turin and from this airport, Cervinia is just a 90-minute drive away. The nearest railway station is the Chatillion, and from this station, there are available buses that regularly transport visitors to Cervinia. And if the adventurer likes to drive, Cervinia is roughly 93 miles from Milan. Once in Cervinia, it will be easy to locate accommodations. The ski resort has several hotels, apartments, and other lodging areas. To find out why tourists refer to Cervinia as the new ski paradise, you can make it your next destination for the coming winter holiday.
