How to format a hard drive under Microsoft Windows

Under Microsoft Windows, you can use the `format` command to format a drive, just like in DOS.

Alternatively, you can format a drive through the GUI by following these steps:

* Click the button.

* Highlight the drive you wish to format.
* Click the right mouse button to bring up a menu.

How to format a hard drive under FreeBSD

To format a hard drive partition under FreeBSD, use the `newfs` command.
How to format a hard drive under Solaris

To format a hard drive partition under Solaris, use the `format` command.
