How to Improve Email Click Through Rates

By: Ryan Price

Once your email is opened you now have the opportunity to present your readership with some smart quality content.  More often than not you'll want to exploit a lively reader and have him or her click on a link in your email that directs them to a page on your website or blog.  The number of folks who click on your link compared to the amount that open your email is called your click through rate.  Maximizing your click through rate suggests that more folks can see your web site or sales offer and give gives you additional traffic.

You'll be able to complete this step concurrently with the previous step of analyzing your email open rates.  The method is quite similar.  Firstly, look through your email inbox and take a note of the emails that you just browse and visit the links within.  Take a note of who they are from and what they are writing about.  Additionally take note of their way of writing - long, short, to the point, in stories etc.  This will form the premise of the design of emails that you may start to check with.

Again, I advocate you write and load your autoresponder with a minimum of 20 emails. For best click through rates think about targeting your data closely to your subscribers wants and needs; you have got to understand your audience.  If you don't understand your audience ask them what they want or ask them for their most pressing questions regarding your niche or topic.  I have found it better to put in writing short to medium emails providing one or 2 tips rather than long theoretical articles.  And I invariably have just one link per email, simply one desired action and no choices.

Once you have a minimum of 100 subscribers receive your first twenty emails you should look at your five lowest performing emails and amendment the content of that email.

Then once another a hundred subscribers receive your emails check their performance again.  Still rewrite the 5 worst performing emails and you'll notice your open rates will begin to rise.
