Making Your Flyer Copy Personal

By: Colleen Davis

People buy from someone who is not a stuffed-shirt and unfriendly. People also do not buy from those who are aggressive sales agents. The more personal your flyer printing copy, the more likely that you appeal to your target readers’ affections.

We all know that no matter how powerful your flyer printing message, your copy won’t budge even the friendliest of persons if you don’t make it personal. Sharing your business message like a friend gets more purchases than those done on professional terms.

Here are a few rules you can use in your flyer printing copy to seal the deal with your clients:

Always write in the First Person.
Always remember that using a copy that is in the first person can help you build better rapport with your reader than a stilted one. One-on-one conversations in your custom flyers tend to get more clients to try your business. So tell your benefits like you’re just talking to a friend over a cup of coffee.

Shorten your copy – use contractions.
Don’t make your custom flyer copy too long that your readers get out of breath just reading them. Use contractions to shorten your text. Contractions like I’m, you’re, we’re, and we’ll are just a few that you can use to make your custom flyer more personal.

Don’t use too many commas.
Too many commas distract the eyes, as well as make it hard for your readers to take a breather. Just like contractions, commas only lengthen your copy which can be better broken down into short sentences.

Instead, shorten your sentences and end with a period.
Make it simple. Use short sentences instead of long ones. End with a period rather than commas.

Don’t distract your readers from what is important. Long sentences only make it harder for your readers to make sense of your message.

You can start your sentence with And, But, Because.
Contrary to what we’ve been taught when we were in grade school, you can use these words to start your sentences. As advertising goes, anything can be applied to create a better and reader-friendly flyer copy.

Breathe and Relax.
Don’t think about the pressure of having to come up with an excellent flyer printing copy. Forget that your custom flyers’ success depends on what you’re going to write. Just take a deep breath, sit and relax. And then write your advertising copy just like your writing a letter to a friend.
