When children enter into your life (because they are yours, not just the visiting sort) there are many things that must change. For many people, daily life changes quite quickly and they don't realize the difference until it comes time to travel, or something outside of the daily routine. Fortunately, in today's modern world there are many products and amenities that can make life easier for us. Traveling with children doesn't need to be a huge challenge, it is simply something that needs to be planned in advance. Once you know how you're going to make travel with kids easier, you can do so at the drop of a hat. It really is as simple as having a plan. The golden rule for traveling with children is to be prepared. This is both a mental and a physical reality. Yes, you must have an action plan, but there are a few items you will also wish to acquire. Travel strollers are pretty much one of the best inventions around when it comes to taking some of the stress off of traveling with kids who are too young to walk alongside you. Can you imagine trying to juggle a baby in your arms as well as your luggage in airport security these days? It would be downright impossible. The reason that travel strollers are so ideal for this is that unlike many strollers designed for everyday use, they can fold down to a size that can easily fit into an overhead luggage bin, meaning that right up until you board the airplane you have a safe and secure place for your child to be while you are handling all of the other activities that come with airline travel. Once you get where you're going, you then have a stroller to use as you need it that fits very easily into cars and can be tucked away easily when not in use. It also works well to have a baby travel bed that can function as a safe spot for nap-time, bed-time, or just "I need you to be safe and not crawl around right now time." There are also travel cribs out there that can double as UV-protective outdoor spaces so that you can have your child with you at the beach or even just a day in the park without worrying about their sun exposure or nap-time...assuming you can get them to sleep while there is so much excitement going on all around them. Other tricks of the trade include having a portable high chair that can clip onto the edge of the table. While many restaurants have high chairs available, it is not exactly reasonable to expect childless friends and family to just have one lying about. If you are more concerned about their ability to stay entertained during your travels, grab a lunch box or a tote bag and fill it with items to them as needed. Having some coloring books and crayons to hand them while you're busy visiting with the other adults is a great trick, as is having something they can play with quietly in the car or on a plane.
