By: Nick Monks

Getting access to information these days is the easiest it probably has ever been in the history of man. The internet, of course, plays a huge role in this. That being said, I bet you don’t know the following.

1. Meaning of Horse Statutes – Statutes of people on horses carry a hidden meaning. If the horse has both front feet in the air, the person died in battle. One leg means they died after the battle from wounds. No legs means they died of natural causes.

2. Women, Sex and Chocolate – In an odd twist, scientists have discovered a weird fact about women, sex and chocolate. Eating chocolate and having sex result in the same, exact brain functions in a woman!

3. Brides in Morocco – Getting married can be a scary thing. Brides in Morocco have it good. They keep their eyes closed throughout the ceremony per custom.

4. Fingerprints of Lions – Every lion is unique just like human beings. With humans, you can tell from our fingerprints. With lions, it is the whiskers. No two sets of whiskers are the same on any lions.

5. Families in China – There are well over a billion people in China. Given that fact, you would expect there to be a lot of families. Yes and no. There are a lot of families, but only about 200 total family names.

6. Look Behind You! – Ever wondered what is behind you? Well, rabbits do not. They can see behind them without turning their heads. Oddly, the same goes for parrots.

7. Crazy Koala Bears – Think of Australia and you see those crazy Koala bears. They are truly odd. For instance, they do not drink water, but get fluid from the leaves they eat. They also do not have any known predator.

8. Highest Capital in Europe – There are tons of odd facts to learn about Europe. One of the oddest is which is the highest Capital city? It is Madrid in Spain.

9. Manhole Covers in Russia – Why don’t you ever walk around a Russian city at night without a flashlight? The streets aren’t lit and many manhole covers are missing.

10. Signing the Declaration of Independence – Everyone knows the Declaration of Independence was signed July 4, right? Wrong. Only two signatures occurred that day.

It is always good to learn that you don’t know everything under the sun. It is, after all, a big sun. If you are looking for odd little humorous things about the world, just dig into the various information sites on the web.
