Three Common Type of Architectural Columns

In choosing the best architectural columns, however, it is a must that you should know what types of columns are available, how they look, how much they cost and other necessary information which are invaluable. A prospect buyer would usually think what these columns are and why are they becoming “in” these days. Basically, a architectural column is a famous structure used in ancient edifices which were very common in Greek and Roman temples. What makes it so good to the eye is that it catches the attention of every passerby because it gives a touch of elegance and formality to a certain establishment, may it be a house or a commercial building.
Mainly, there are three common types of column according to how they are used. First, there is what we call the porch column. As the term suggests, porch columns are used on the entry area or a lobby area of a certain house or building. There are a variety of styles available for a porch column but the most widely used is the fluted style porch column since it conveys superiority among all with its highly and delicately decorated ornaments and rings on top of it.
Another type is the exterior column meaning, it is meant to be set up outside the corners of a building. These exterior columns may serve a variety of purposes. It comes in different shapes of bases such as round, square and the like. It may be used as purely decorative elements in the lawn or yard; it may also serve as simple but elegant seats or tables, fences or, to add more style, it may be placed along the entrance toward your porch.
The last type would be the interior columns. These interior columns are designed to be constructed inside the buildings. Mainly, interior columns are used for defining the insides of a house or a building. Most especially in houses where dividers are not present, columns provides the insides a more distinct and defined divisions of the place such as the boundary of the living room and the dining room; and the like.
Columns may be made by a variety of materials. It may be finished out of concrete materials, plaster, fiberglass, marble and many other things. How these columns price mostly depends upon the materials from which they are made of.
Using columns are becoming a trend these days and sooner or later, more people would opt to include columns in the blue print of their dream houses. But before deciding upon buying a column, be sure to explore all the possibilities so that you can maximize your expenses and make full use of the classiness which you can set up in your own homes.
