Use A Golf Tee When You Can

By: JeffV

When you think of

golf, a golf tee probably Is not among the first things that come to mind. But, there are specific rules

within the game of golf that you must abide by to make the game legitimate. A lot of these regulations

contain variables which grant you the use of certain tools during a round of golf. The golf tee is one of

these tools. If you are not familiar with golf, you may not recognize what a golf tee actually

is. Think of it as a device that

holds a golf ball off of the ground in a fixed position. It usually is composed of wood or plastic. It can only be used on the tee box for the first

swing to start a new hole.

For those who are familiar with the game, they understand the role the golf tee plays in their game. They have seen the pros using a tee, and have marveled at how perfect most of their shots seem to

be. There are

different methods to using a tee that will have an affect on your golf shot. To get the best results you can, you will have to

use the tee according to pre-shot conditions. Some of these conditions are the club you're using, the

direction and intensity of the wind, or the condition of the tee box.

Let's use the driver as a case in point. A rule of thumb is to

tee the ball up to where it is at least one-half an inch higher than the head of the driver. This is the

desired placement for producing a clean hit on the ball. This produces an angle that will allow the ball the best chance for maximum

length and height. You will be applying this teeing technique the most since the driver is

used off of the tee box more than any other club. Tee the ball a little lower whenever there is a wind blowing inward towards you. This

causes you to strike the ball on a lower trajectory, more of a line drive directly against the wind. You may want to keep the ball teed up the

same if the wind is behind you. Or, you could tee it just a little higher, and let the wind carry it on for

some extra distance.

It takes a combination of many things working collectively, such as different tools and processes, to hit a

sound golf shot. The golf tee is considered one of these tools, because of its capability to produce the

ideal set-up for your ball. A lot of people do not realize how much influence the golf tee has on a golf stroke. Pay close attention to how you tee up the ball. The height of a teed up ball will influence the

course of the shot. To hit the most proficient shot you can, make sure to have the proper club, the correct

swing tempo, and don't forget to use a golf tee.
