Many people exercise and don’t complain about, it comes as second nature to them, others find it hard to get up off their duff and exercise. The reason for that is it is in our nature to make up excuses, for one thing or another. People find that making an excuse is easier than actually doing something. This works for an exercise routine also. If you make an excuse today, you will do the same thing tomorrow, thus keeping you from actually doing what you know you need to do. Many of the popular excuses made by women are: • “I just have too many things to get done today and if I take the time to exercise, I may not get everything else done.” Many people are always on the go, yet they find time to go to the gym, or even for a run up the street. If these busy moms can do it, so can we. • “It is too far for me to drive. By the time I get there, the gym may be packed full or even closed. I will try tomorrow.” If your gym is too far for you to drive and you worry you will not make there in time, try to find a gym that is closer to where you are during the day. Not only will this save on gas, but also on time, no more traffic or rushing to get there before they lock the doors. • “My kids have to go to ballet (or whatever sport they play) and it starts at the same time I usually go to the gym.” Sure your children should come first, but there may be a way you can set up a carpool with some of the other moms in your area. • “I need time to rest, before I go to the gym.” The truth about sleep is too much is just as bad, if not worse, than not enough. If you are up moving around, exercising, you are more alert about what is going on around you. This excuse needs to go, before it gets too out of hand. These are just some of the popular excuses people use to get out of doing their workout on a daily basis. If you have ever caught yourself using one of these, or any others, you should kick the habit of excuses very soon, I would say immediately. Excuses slow you down. Also, excuses give you a mental block that keeps you from doing what you know is right. Start over today with your routine, by getting rid of the excuses that once slowed you down.
